In Perfect Time (Live)
Director: Lynn Sheppard-Carter
Description: This audience was kind of like everybody was on a date lol, so they were all either mooning over each other, or trying very hard to be witty. Still, It is a nice little venue and paid well.
This song is dedicated (and was written for) my main fan, my wife Lynn.

Chores (Lazy Man's Blues) Live at The Rod & Gun Club
Director: Lynn Sheppard-Carter
Description: I had just written this song, and as I all too often do, I tried it out a little early. It will be in a slightly different form on the (as of this writing)
collection of songs, Rodeo Clown. This was performed live at The Rod & Gun Club in Everglades City Florida. It was a killer place to play, no pun intended, with the audience just below me and the Barron River, tide rushing in furiously, just behind them. We had a blast.

Mary's Old Bear Whistle
Director: CC Carter
Description: My Mother in Law, Mary Emma Sheppard, was a 35+ year member/activist in the Sierra Club. She was also a world traveler. One year she was to be national member of the year, a high honor. Instead, she was traveling in Asia. She almost single handedly stopped Orimulsion from being imported into Port Manatee. It was to be our new deathly toxic fuel. One spill would have killed Tampa Bay. I am wearing one of her old Sierra Club T-Shirts in her honor. The song is both a tribute to her and to like minded environmental activists world wide.

Santa Claws is Coming
Director: CC Carter
Description: This song is an obvious spoof. I wrote it doing yardwork. More and more I find myself writing in the so called sub genre called "Dark Country."
My upcoming release, Rodeo Clown, has a couple of dark ones, and I have several more that probably won't see the light of day. The record after that? Yeah, definitely some darker stuff. Please put this one in somebody's stocking at Christmas!

Anniversary Song
Director: CC Carter
Description: In the dark middle of the Covid-19 Pandemic my wife and I were virtually house bound and, quite frankly, starting to get on each others nerves.
It was the Summer Solstice, our wedding anniversary and I knew I had to surprise her with something and so this song, along with a wildflower bouquet, was it. Listen close at the end and you can hear the red birds (Cardinals) singing along with me. You cannot buy that kind of back-up!

Roll with The Punches
Director: Lynn Sheppard-Carter
Description: I forget the name of this bar but I do remember it was very loud. I think I had written this the day before and wanted to try it out. Oh well. It is not a very good rendition but I still like the story and the message.

Hero Angel #nursesunited
Director: Clayton Carter
Description: During the height of the Covid-19 pandemic I was thinking of all the weary and over-worked health professionals and the toll it all must be taking on them and the very little credit the press was giving them. A big orange elephant had sucked all the air out of the room. Yes, kids, lets all wire up some bleach! This song has a little bit of political anger associated with it but I was pissed. God Bess them all. My son surprised me with this fine video.

All The Oceans Clean

Description: I read National Geographic monthly and though it is a great magazine, these days the stories are mostly bad news getting worse.
I had not played this song in a few years and thought I would put my 2 bits in..

CC Carter at The Elixir Tea House (cover of Highway Kind, T.V. Zandt)
Director: Lynn Sheppard-Carter
Description: I had played all originals that night but had been thinkin and listening to Townes Van Zandt a lot in those days. Highway Kind and Nothin are two of my favorite songs ever recorded. I wish I had done this performance of Highway Kind more justice. Next time.

The Wind From Avalon (Live) Myakka Moonlighters Fall Series
Director: Sparky Baxley
Description: My good friend Pearse Kelly agreed to do my first set at this event without rehearsal. He rode out on his Motorcycle, banjo strapped to the bar.
Anyway, I thought we did alright cold, and I sure had a fun day. Sparky recorded this one (albeit somewhat shakily) but thank you Sparky! It is a good example of my sometimes too long introductions, but this song does need some back story. The produced version is also at this site.
